"New-Method" No. 17

We introduce the email bulletin "New-Method" No. 17 with our works and guest contributions.
As we have already announced in the previous issue, Hideki Nakazawa seceded from "New-Method" on 18th February, 2012, and Masaru Kaido joined on the same day. This issue is the first issue after Kaido joined.
This issue features Yumiko Haruki for the contributor. Ms. Haruki is the editor of newsletter "artscape news" and has engaged with art website projects since the dawn of web, on the other hand as a desktop musician in the name of "yum", she has also released music pieces such as "Discourse on the Method Music," "Discourse on the New-Method Music" that remixed music works of "Method" and "New-Method."

Nakazawa leaves "New-Method."

Nakazawa (Catfish) had 'enjoyed' the water of 'New-Method' as it enabled him to do what he could not do in 'Method.' However, he is a proponent of the 'cyclic art history' and has committed himself to the cycle as his style, thus unable to stay in the same water. If he does not step into the 'next,' he is to stop the flow of the historical cycle.

It does not mean that the water of 'New-Method' is stagnated. Hirama (Weather Loach) makes no room for suspending the current of the water through his daily activities such as "The 2nd Fri," "Togetherin'" or "TL scene." Also, Baba (Eel) maintains the water fresh and clean with constructing a world backed with his delicate attitude.

In the meantime, "New-Method" has come to pool abundant water there, and it has been of little importance whether the Catfish stays in the bottom of the water as its master. Now it works with its discourses alone. As though attempting to push the discourses to be a legendary status, "New-Method" went to stand under the waterfall in "Austerities," the last work with Nakazawa as its member. And as so expected, it has been rumored from one to another, now growing into a legend.

Kaido joins such a group "New-Method" to be a new member.

Kaido is a cook dubbed as "Ho-cho-cho" [the master of Japanese kitchen knife]. Given the Weather Loach and the Eel, how would the cook behave? Would he handle his knife elegantly? It must be a do-or-die battle. The very first work of 'New-Method' is again "Austerities," but is this a plot worked out by the two (fishes) in order to draw Kaido into the water? Or, an allegory of hardship of the forthcoming battle?

After all, the destination 'New-Method' is up to the handling of Kaido's knife.

Note:
This analogy appeared first time at a Twitter meeting to deal with "Discourse on the New-Method Music" for "The 2nd Fri" in June 2011.
'All members of "New-Method" seem to be the fish of the "long" body, which easily escapes from the hands to captures it. Nakazawa is the catfish, Baba is the eel, and Hirama is the weather loach.'

In works of the "Ascending Order Sort" series I have released on this bulletin, the methods of sorting were represented in the numerical symbols. However, the essence of the number is not in its existence as the symbol, but its function of distinguishing things or dividing a given amount of quantity. This work is to clearly demonstrate the border as the essence of the numbers by regarding the part represented by numbers in the previous works to be the amount of the blank space. This work represents the quantity and the border of 'Ascending Order Sort No. 1 "Bubble Sort".'

In this work, I collected images of the cactus by connecting them with hyperlinks I found with the image search on the web. If these images will be deleted from the server, we no longer can see those images. As time goes on, more and more images will not be seen, someday with all the link URLs left broken.

[Editor's Note]

"New-Method Night Vol.4," held on 18th February, was very successful and all performers were great. "New-Method" renewed its formation on the same day.
